A LOCAL watering hole has been shortlisted in a nationwide community pub of the year competition.
The Yew Tree at Mosley Common is one of five finalists shortlisted for the title in the Unique Brewery competition.
Hosts Dominic and Jane Dalton have got involved with the Mosley Common community -- sponsoring a children's football team and putting on social events for pensioners.
The duo also plan to extend activities by fielding a netball side and a five-a-side football team.
Pub day manager Beverley Smith said: "We are a community based pub and pride ourselves on the warm and friendly atmosphere we offer to customers, both young and old.
"When we entered into the competition we sent out questionnaires. The response was fantastic and the feedback was invaluable. It would be great if we won the competition."
