BOSSES at a major leisure company are showing they're no dummies by giving a long-standing Blackpool attraction a £250,000 face-lift.
Leisure Parcs Ltd is due to unveil an eye-catching glass entrance, brand new models and features, a shop and a separate entrance for the Chamber of Horrors at its Tussauds Waxworks on the Golden Mile on July 19.
The revamp includes a new Harry Potter feature, and the Rock Factory, a 'tribute to legends of rock and pop' featuring new models such as Robbie Williams and Frank Sinatra.
Another, as yet unidentified, tableau is also planned for the summer, together with a new Tussauds souvenir shop.
A revamped main entrance of glass with a cascading water feature, and possibly wax figures, is also being built.
"It's just bringing the entrance a little bit more out onto the Prom. It will give people an understanding of how much there actually is in there," said Jon Sheehy, Leisure Parcs' sales and marketing executive.
"It is a unique attraction. It's the only Tussauds north of London."
Refurbishment began at the Blackpool waxworks around five weeks ago. But the attraction has only just closed to the public to allow workmen to install the new glass frontage -- work expected to take around ten days.
"This is the first major refurbishment that Leisure Parcs has done since we bought the attraction in summer 1999," Mr Sheehy said.
He added that management at Leisure Parcs -- which also owns the Tower, the Winter Gardens and Blackpool's three piers -- expect the changes at Tussauds will give the attraction a 'greater presence and impact' on the Golden Mile.
