REGARDING the medal featured in Eric Leaver's 'Looking Back' (LET, June 26), which was presented to commemorate the royal visit to Roe Lee mills in Blackburn in 1913. I, too, possess one.
It was given to my late paternal grandmother, who worked in the cardroom at the mill and, in turn, was also privileged to be presented to Queen Mary.
My grandmother's family lived at the time in Haydock Street, just behind the mill and were all employed by the company of Duckworth and Eddeston.
