I WAS dumbfounded by the statement given out by the 'Burn' management regarding the axing of Mick Spencer from the band (LET, July 3) about him being 'unhappy.'
The band was his life. After the Isle-of-Wight and Glastonbury festivals he was ecstatic and couldn't wait to go to Paris to support the Rolling Stones.
Both Danny and Rod with their respective song-writing and musical talents have given such a lot to the band and Mick, with his vibrant and charismatic personality, coupled with a sense of humour, often turned an hostile crowd into a friendly one -- for example at the Oasis and Wolverhampton gigs.
A lot of people are hurting because of this sad decision. It is bad for Blackburn and the true fans who were there from the start.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Mick, with his strong personality will come through to go on to do better and greater things.
