THREE youths have been arrested and bailed following a massive blaze at a Bury paper mill.
Around 100 tonnes of recycled paper were destroyed by fire at the former Olives Paper mill site in Tottington Road on Wednesday evening.
Four fire crews tackled the burning bales in the storage compound after the blaze broke out at shortly before 7.45pm.
Dr John Wild, who runs Active Craft from the site, said: "It is too early to put a price on the cost of the fire, although the clean-up operation will be more expensive."
The firm's security guards detained two youths and police later arrested another.
A spokesman for Bury police said: "Two 13-year-old boys and a 15-year-old youth were arrested and have been bailed to return to the police station for questioning."
Firefighters remained at the scene through the night and throughout yesterday tackling small pockets of fire in the bales of paper.
