A PENDLE schoolgirl is recovering in hospital after being knocked down by a stolen car.
The girl, who has not been named, was hit by a stolen Ford Fiesta in Reedymoor Lane, Foulridge, on Wednesday afternoon.
She and four other teenagers were taken to Burnley General Hospital. Police said the car was stolen some time on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
The girl was taken to hospital with burns injuries after being run over by the car and police said she is likely to need surgery.
Three people were arrested after the incident and have been helping police with their inquiries. They have been released without charge.
A number of witnesses have come forward, but police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident, at 1.50pm, to come forward.
