A DRINK driver nearly twice the limit had only had two beers and his case should be a lesson to others, Burnley Magistrates heard.
The court was told how father of two Michael Potts, 38, gave a breath test reading of 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath after he was stopped by police - the legal limit is 35.
Potts, a shift supervisor, of Rakeshouse Road, Nelson, admitted driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £200, banned for 12 months and must pay £55 costs.
Graeme Tindall, defending, said there had been no criticism of Potts' driving. He had been entirely co-operative with the police and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
His case was perhaps a lesson to everybody who had any alcohol and then drove as they could never be sure if it put them over the limit or not.
The defendant had had two pints of beer and it was a common belief a person could have two pints before they were over the limit. That was obviously not the case and Potts was going to have to learn a lesson the hard way.
Potts was a man of good character.
