I HAVE been upset by some of the recent letters about school closures.
My little brother is only seven and has been very frightened about moving schools. He is worried about not knowing where to go, where to find things, who to go to when he needs help, whether he will have any friends and whether he will be shouted. I felt the same when I started high school, but I was older. He has been upset that some of his friends have had to leave Affetside Primary School already.
If correspondent Albion thinks that where he lives is so bad he could always move to Affetside or Tottington or Ramsbottom. But maybe he would prefer to stay where he is, where he knows people and where things are familiar, just like my little brother does.
So please don't tell us to shut up and get on with it. We campaigned to keep our school open just like he intends to campaign for his area. Affetside was a brilliant school and it should not be closing. People should know what has happened so that if more schools need to close (hopefully none will) then people will have learned to be a lot nicer about it and, better still, realise that good schools should be kept open.
Also, I would like to know how the church can want its building back because our school has just celebrated its 124th birthday. I didn't think the congregation were that old!
