STAFF at Rossendale Council have been rewarded for learning new skills to help them communicate with deaf people.
Four members of staff from the council took part in a course by HearFirst, a Bacup-based deaf and disability awareness training company.
Alongside the council staff were volunteers from Sure Start and staff at Rossendale Domestic Violence Forum.
Joan Brown, Sharon Cooper, Jill Jackson and Sharon Loney, from the council all took part in the workshop.
Julie Ryder, of HearFirst, said: "The course encourages a positive attitude towards deafness and staff learnt communication tactics to help them deal with deaf and hard of hearing in a more professional way."
The staff were presented with a Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People Level One at the Council Neighbourhood Office, St James Street, Bacup.
