CHORLEY Lynx will be looking to consolidate their position in the play-off places in National League Division Two when they entertain lowly Workington Town at Victory Park tomorrow (3pm).
In their last outing two weeks ago, Lynx had an excellent 29-14 victory over play-off rivals York City Knights which saw them climb above their rivals in the league table.
Coach Darren Abram will be without prop forward Dave Whittle for the rest of the season after a scan showed he suffered severe knee ligament damage at Barrow which could also be a career threatening injury. Last season's player of the year Wayne Bloor is also unlikely to return to the club after suffering complications as he recovered from a fractured cheekbone.
However, the club are hoping to extend the loan period of the impressive Anthony Blackwood from Leigh whilst Ian Parry should also be fit to return after recovering from a back injury.
Workington currently lie next to bottom in the league table with just two victories and a draw from their nine games. Their last game saw them travel to London to take on fellow strugglers London Skolars and they came away with an impressive 52-6 victory with Dave Petit running in a hat trick of tries.
They are currently coached by ex-Wigan star Billy McGinty and in his short time in charge they have showed a marked improvement. This week he has singed experienced wingman Glen Hutton on loan from neighbours Whitehaven, but his plans have been hit with a spate of injuries which has seen ex-Lynx man Shaun Boylan suffer a broken jaw along with Craig Fisher (groin problems) and James Robinson (broken hand) all suffered in the Skolars game.
