GRAHAM Knowles and Mike Ingham rewrote the Lancashire League record books with their remarkable stand on Saturday.
The pair put on an unbeaten 273 for the second wicket in their match at home to Church, setting a new league record for any wicket.
Ironically, the Knowles (170 not out) and Ingham (100 not out) beat the 268 scored by Ian Austin and John Entwistle for Haslingden for the third wicket against Church in 1985.
Knowles' knock, which consisted of one six and 25 fours off 135 balls, was also the highest ever total for a Haslingden player scored at Bentgate and also for a Haslingden player against Church.
Ingham's century, meanwhile, was made off 133 deliveries, with 10 fours, leaving him 52 runs short of reaching the league run record of 14,951 at the end of play on Saturday.
Ingham, who had a runner for the last 12 overs, now needs 40 runs to reach the league record after scoring 12 yesterday.
Haslingden's total of 286 was also the best total ever against Church.
