ONCE more, we have Councillor Stuart Caddy's vitriol against the BNP as he accused us of failing to debate our policies (LET, July 3).
This is from the man who presides over the council which denied the official opposition a seat on the Executive and also ensured we took no positions of authority on any of the committees.
This was a direct snub to the electors of Burnley and to democracy. Perhaps the aim is to deflect attention away from the poor performance of the ruling Labour group.
In your article, you quoted a supposed policy of white-only taxi companies. More garbage - I defy you to produce this from any of our campaign literature.
As for the return of council housing, this is a BNP national policy and has formed no part of any local campaign, as this would take government legislation to achieve.
The real issues are the ones which affect our everyday lives, all decided by Labour at local or national level and therein, lies the debate.
My advice to Coun Caddy is concentrate on his own party. For the moment, we will continue to serve our electors on the agenda that he has set and, judging by recent election results, he has enough on his plate.
COUN LEN STARR, British National Party, Burnley Council.
The policy matters Coun Starr refers to were mentioned by council leader Coun Stuart Caddy during a public debate in Burnley council chamber - and were reported accordingly.
Coun Starr was given the chance to comment on Coun Caddy's assertions after the meeting and before they were printed, but declined - Editor
