WORSTHORNE Scouts have started another canoe course for the younger Scouts and have held one session at Foulridge and one at Wavelengths.
It is hoped to assess the Scouts for the British Canoe Union 1 star. To obtain the badge the Scouts will need to pass the British Canoe Union 2 star award and a camp for the end of August has provisionally be been booked at Coniston Hall campsite. Qualified canoe coaches from Pendle Paddlers will accompany the Scouts. For information call Tony on 454704.
OVER the last six years the numbers of children attending the Family Services at St John's Church has fallen by more than 50 per cent. The Diocesan Children's Officer is to be invited to speak to the Parochial Church Council at their next pastoral meeting in August. The next meeting of the Sunday School takes place on August 17.
THE gardens of Higher Bottin Cottage, Extwistle Road, will be open from 1-5pm on Saturday, July 26. Admission is £2 and there will be tea and cakes, a book stall, bring and buy, games, raffle and more. All proceeds go to Worsthorne Ringers.
THE next meeting of the Parish Council has been changed to Tuesday, August 5, in the Reading Rooms at 7.30pm.
