A CLUB that played host to the Bay City Rollers and Frankie Vaughan will open again thanks to a group of friends.
Club Eclectic, the former Lar-de-dars and Eclipse club, in Willow Street, Accrington, will open on August 7 when Kristin Dewell, Adam McEvoy, and Gaelle, Rob and Cath Graham finish the club's refurbishment.
The group, all from Accrington, grasped the nettle because they were disillusioned with what the town had to offer and decided to do something about it.
None of the group have ever run a pub or club before and only Kristan has worked part-time in a pub before. She will attend a licensing course before the club's opening.
Gaelle works part-time in a take away shop, Rob works for the Royal Bank of Scotland, in Preston, Cath is a nursery nurse, in Blackburn, and Adam, who is looking to start a landscape gardening firm with his brother, has a degree in business from Lancaster University.
The friends, who said they used to have to go out of town for a night out, approached the owners Preston-based Ramm-designs and made an offer.
Since then they have invested all their savings, taken out loans and started the company Party on Lancs Ltd to make their dream a reality. It is a dream that has cost them around £50,000.
Club Eclectic will offer dance music from the late 80s and early 90s to the present day, but the organisers promise to cater for all tastes and people.
Gaelle, 30, lives with her boyfriend Adam, 25, brother Rob, 28, and sister-in-law Cathy, 27, in Avenue Parade, Accrington. Friend Kristin, 21, lives in Cleveleys Road, Accrington.
Gaelle said it will be a dream come true but it has been extremely stressful.
She said: "We've all lost weight because of it. We work on it all the time and are here most nights till after 10pm. We have done all of it ourselves, from the decorating to the renovation and all the family have been helping us.
"We decided that Accrington needed a good night out because it doesn't really have anywhere that we wanted to go.
