CROWDS of supporters flocked to an open day to boost funds at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, Edenfield.
Visitors saw more than 400 animals and there were lots of other attractions including stalls, raffles, face painting and tombolas.
The sanctuary costs in excess of £8,000 a week to run with money raised by events such as the open day, shops in Accrington, Blackburn and Swinton and donations.
Dogs and cats form the bulk of the 'guests' but the sanctuary is also looking after a large number of horses and ponies, donkeys, goats, rabbits, sheep, cows, chickens, hens and ducks.
A sanctuary spokesman said: "We have had very big crowds here today who have enjoyed the hot sunny weather and the chance to see all the animals.''
The money raised will go towards maintaining the sanctuary and to carrying out improvements.
