BLACKPOOL take an early season break this weekend after arguably their best performance of the season so far at Swindon.
Wrexham's smattering of Welsh under-21 internationals means that the Seasiders' Bloomfield Road clash with the Dragons must wait until later in the year.
That means the next first team action for the Seasiders will not be until September 13, when Bournemouth visit Bloomfield Road.
Saturday's game was a topsy-turvy affair, with Simon Grayson slotting in to a three-man central defence with a combined age of more than 100.
The ploy didn't initially seem to work as another veteran, Tommy Mooney, sneaked in to head home from closer range less than eight minutes into the game.
However, barely two minutes later, a Mike Flynn long throw found Jonathan Douglas who slotted home.
Douglas, on loan from Blackburn, has come in for more stick than most from unhappy fans early in the season, but he showed on Saturday, and at Oldham, that he does have an eye for goal.
The Seasiders took the lead with an incisive break, with Mike Sheron feeding the prolific Scott Taylor, who took one touch before beating England under-21 keeper Rhys Evans.
But Swindon hit back almost immediately, with that man Mooney scoring with a back-header that had more than a hint of luck about it.
Chris Clarke replaced the injured Kirk Hilton at half-time, and staked his claim for a starting place with an assured display, more reminiscent of his early days with the club than his injury-ravaged 2002/03 campaign. Swindon had one last chance to re-take the lead when Lee Jones in the Blackpool goal was harshly judged to have pushed Mooney at a corner, but big Sam Parkin missed the spot kick.
Substitute Martin Bullock, back to full fitness after missing the last game against Barnsley, almost won it for the Seasiders, but was unlucky to miss after running through a static Swindon defence.
There was good and bad news in the transfer market this week. The Seasiders secured the loan of exciting Blackburn Rovers midfielder, Neil Danns, for a further two months.
Danns, who scored a memorable goal against Oldham, has now completed the one match ban he picked up for his sending off against Wycombe and will be available for the Bournemouth match a week on Saturday.
However, Steve McMahon confirmed that another enquiry for Everton defender, Peter Clarke, has failed to yield results.
Clarke has also been the subject of intense interest from third division Northampton Town, who are currently earning a reputation as the Chelsea of the lower divisions.
So far, Clarke has gone nowhere and will continue his bid to win a first-team place at Goodison Park..
