A MOBILE unit packed with the latest aids for blind and partially-sighted people is visiting Nelson later this month.

Action for Blind People in the North West has organised the unit to be at Nelson Library, in the Market Square, from 10am until 4pm, on September 25. Some of the gadgets include talking microwaves and easy-to-read watches.

Bob Welsh, mobile service manager, said: "Everyone is welcome to come along to the mobile unit. Whether you are visually impaired or simply want to know more about eye conditions, please pay us a visit and pick up information or ask us questions.

"Visitors can try out a wide range of daily living aids or state-of-the-art computer technology that uses magnification and speech software."
