I READ recently about an old couple who, a few years ago, had to go into different care homes, with the understanding that the husband could visit his wife every day by taxi paid for by social services.
Now, he has been told there isn't enough money in the pot for this and so cannot see his wife any more like he used to.
Why cannot the social services find the money so that the poor old couple can enjoy the time they have left? Why are they making their lives a misery?
I'm absolutely disgusted by the behaviour of all the people concerned in this case. God only knows what is waiting for the rest of us.
Why should pensioners pay their taxes when they are working for the Government to turn around and treat them as harshly as this couple?
