A MAN was knocked unconscious after violence erupted at the Craven Heifer pub, in Kelbrook, a jury was told.
Burnley Crown Court heard how alleged victim Andrew Williams was then said to have been kicked in the head by Darren Storey and Ashley Firth, both 22 and another man as he lay on the ground. The third man was alleged to have repeatedly kicked him.
The attack was said to have taken place after a domestic row developed into several people fighing in the street.
Storey, of Sycamore Avenue, Barnoldswick and Firth, both 22, now living in Portsmouth, both deny assault causing actual bodily harm, between December 20 and 23, last year.
The court heard Storey told police he had been grabbed and pushed to the floor and as he got up and the man went to grab him again, he hit him and "knocked him clean out."
The defendant said there was a lot more scuffling, with people fighting everywhere and he walked across the road to his girlfriend.
A police car arrived and he just started walking with his partner. He was detained at the bus stop.
Storey told police he did not kick Mr Williams and although he was 'slightly drunk' he had a clear recollection of events.
He added he did not run from the scene, but walked off.
The jury heard when co-defendant Firth was questioned by police, he told officers a man came charging over, grabbed him, pushed him outside the pub and 'everyone piled out.' Firth admitted he was very drunk and could not remember what happened.
