NEXT month sees the return of one of Ramsbottom's favourite attractions -- the traditional farmers' market.

Shoppers have the chance to win a prize hamper of local produce in return for completing the Farmers Market Survey available at all the stalls in the civic hall and the Market Place.

The winner, whose name will be drawn on Sunday evening, will be able to collect their hamper at the event on Sunday, October 12.

The survey is being undertaken by the Town Centres Initiative to find out whether the Farmers' Market should continue up to Christmas and into the New Year.

More than 30 stalls will offer local produce such as jams, bread and homemade fudge, fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat including ostrich meat as well as savoury pies and seafood.

There will also be homemade crafts, jewellery and cards as well as paintings and other locally made items.

Co-ordinator Tricia Willott, said, "This Farmers' Market also coincides with the Diesel Event Weekend at the East Lancashire Railway and with many shops open on both Bridge Street and Bolton Street, there is plenty for everyone to do in Ramsbottom."

The event takes place at the earlier time of 10am-3pm, at the Market Place and Ramsbottom Civic Hall.
