A NEW building application has been received for the former Grand Cinema site. It is for four one-bedroom flats and two two- bedroom flats.
The front of the building will be in line with the rest of the buildings on Station Road and an arch at the front will lead to 16 parking places at the rear.
Councillors had no objections. They welcomed the fact that there would be off-street parking but would prefer the building to be faced with stone so that it would blend in with the town.
THE police in Padiham and Hapton are to run training schemes for licensees designed to help them to spot under-age drinkers. If the licensees do not agree to be trained then they will not be granted licences.
Surgeries will be held by local police officers in the Town Hall foyer on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm.
It is hoped to introduce alcohol-free street zones in Padiham before the end of the year.
ON Thursday, September 18 there will be the grand opening of a 30-year-old bottle of champagne in the Town Hall foyer. It was 'laid down' in the last year of the 'old' Padiham Council so the Mayoress thought it would be good to celebrate the new Council. Join the Mayor, Councillor Bob Clark, and the Mayoress for an enjoyable social occasion.
