SOME Rovers fans might have choked on their cereal earlier this week when they picked up their morning papers to read the headline: 'Chelsea chasing Souness.'
But I wasn't surprised in the slightest to hear that the gaffer was being linked with a move to one of the 'big three' because it was only a matter of time before it happened.
Let's face it, Graeme Souness has done an incredible job at Blackburn over the last few years.
He's taken this football club from the lower reaches of the First Division to the top six in the Premiership in the space of three seasons which is an unbelievable achievement.
And people in football are finally starting to wake up to the fact.
I know he's been criticised in the past for the job he did at Liverpool but there were reasons why that didn't work out.
Now I'm sure if he had his time again he would do things differently and draw on the vast experience he has gained over the last 10 years.
As far as I'm concerned, Graeme has proved himself to be a top, top manager who knows how to get the very best out of the people around him.
But we don't want him to go anywhere because we feel we are on the verge of something exciting here.
What better opportunity could we have to show how far we've come than turning on the style against Liverpool this weekend?
We are going into it off the back of a good result against Chelsea and all the lads are confident they can give another good account of themselves.
We certainly won't underestimate Liverpool. They've got quality running right through their squad and we'll have to be on top of our game to get anything out of it.
Their biggest asset is their defensive quality. They go into every game with the intention of trying to keep a clean sheet in the hope that they'll nick a goal at the other end.
So whoever gets the first goal could be crucial. If we can penetrate them ourselves then maybe that will draw them out of their shells.
The statistics certainly show that they don't come back that well from a goal down so we've got to get into them early on.
Having said that, Harry Kewell's arrival might just give them a new dimension going forward this season, particularly once he hits top form.
He's one hell of a player and every team will have to be on their guard when they come up against him.
