TYLDESLEY RU have been awarded the RFU's Seal of Approval and the Sport England Clubmark. The Tyldesley club was granted the status after showing that they have a safe and child friendly place to play rugby and that they play a valuable and developing role within their local community.
Only 20 other rugby clubs in the country have the Sport England Clubmark and Joanne Riches, Director of Youth Rugby at Tyldesley, said, "We are very proud. Most of the ground work has been done over a number of years, but a lot of hard work has gone in over the past few months. The next stage is to keep developing and to live up to the standards of which the Seal of Approval sets."
The presentation was made by Tyldesley member and past Lancashire County RFU President Terry Alexander to Joanne.
Only four other clubs Preston, Sedgley Park, Widnes and Orrell have achieved the same status in the Lancashire and just another 16 out of England's 2200 Clubs have done the same nationally.
Training is held at the club's state of the art rugby facility on Astley Street with the seniors being put through their paces on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm and the Juniors on Wednesday evenings at 6pm-7pm for the Under 7s to Under 12 age groups and from 7pm until 8pm for the Under 14 to Under 16 groups.
