GREENMOUNT got the better of BOLTON LEAGUE champions Walkden on Sunday thanks to a glorious century from Gary Chadwick.

The village side batted first and were soon into their stride as openers Andy Bowker (40) and Chadwick put on 73 for the first wicket.

Losing Bowker didn't affect Chadwick's rhythm and he was ably assisted by Jimmy Horrox (70) as the visitors looked to compile a massive total.

The evergreen willow-wielder was in superlative form and fell seven short of registering what would have been a deserved 150.

Greenmount's score of 308 was never going to be passed as Walkden played for the losing draw.

Mark Fallon (2-84) and Stuart Leach (2-36) impressed as only Mark Parkinson passed 50 for the home side in their final total of 233-7.

However, it was a different story the day previous when Heaton hammered Greenmount at Brandlesholme Road.

Only Bowker (38) and Neil Kay (28) put up any sort of resistance as their side were skittled out for just 129.

Heaton were never in danger of losing it and Paul Rayment's unbeaten half-century saw his side home despite some tight bowling from Leach (2-18).
