A SINGLE mother who stole clothes worth more than £100 has been jailed for two months.
Burnley magistrates heard that Geraldine Francis Breithaupt, 36, who has a 10-year-old daughter, was trying to raise £200 deposit for a home.
Breithaupt, of Grange Street, Burnley, admitted two charges of theft. The bench said the fact Breithaupt had somebody outside one shop, waiting to take the haul off her, showed her actions were premeditated.
John Nuttall,, defending, told the court she had been having financial difficulties and would be appealing against the sentence. Bail was refused pending her appearance at Crown Court.
Tom Snape, prosecuting, said an off duty store detective saw the defendant in New Look, Burnley. She took clothes into the changing rooms but came out seemingly without any.
Breithaupt went into another store, police arrived, the defendant was searched and goods found on her.
