A TOP economist briefed businesses about the latest global and national trends.
Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) senior economist Sharon McDowall, visited the town to speak at a seminar held at the Bolholt Country Park Hotel.
The event was attended by around 30 local business and professional services representatives.
Jointly hosting the seminar were Bill Doherty, director for RBS and NatWest Commercial Banking in south Lancashire, and Anne Johnson, manager at the commercial banking office in Bury.
Ms McDowall's talk looked at current global economic conditions and outlook, along with the likely implications for the UK and regional economies.
Mr Doherty said: "Sharon's talk provided us with an invaluable overview of the UK economy and the prospects for our own area. Despite many firms facing continued pressure on margins, there is an air of buoyancy and confidence that is very encouraging."
