A RELATIONSHIP support charity urgently needs volunteer evening receptionists to work in an East Lancashire office.
Because of increased demand, Relate Lancashire needs to extend its opening times at its Burnley office to include Thursday evenings and is appaeling for more staff.
Volunteers are needed to work in the office as receptionists, welcoming clients, managing the diary and acting as chaperones.
Receptionists usually work two or three sessions a month with full training given and travel expenses reimbursed.
Manager Viki Cuthbertson said: "Relate has managed to recruit new counsellors, including ones that speak Urdu and Punjabi, to cope with the increase in demand that always occurs in the build up to Christmas.
"Receptionists are a vital member of the team as Relate will not allow its counsellors to work with clients unless there is a receptionist present to act as a chaperon."
She added: "Without the help and support of local people in this role, Relate would not be able to provide the services that are so vital to families in crisis."
Anyone interested in supporting Relate's work should contact the central appointment office on 01772 717597 and ask to speak to the volunteer co-ordinator.
