BACUP Borough manager Brent Peters hopes the results of his Monday night blast spill over into tomorrow's tough cup tie with UniBond First Division side Bamber Bridge.
Peters held a team meeting at the start of the week to voice his concerns over recent results and performances following his side's promotion to the North West Counties First Division.
And the outcome couldn't have been better as Bacup dominated Wednesday's game with Squires Gate to win 2-1.
Peters said: "We had a meeting on Monday night and got a few things out in the open.
"My lads came out of the blocks on Wednesday and were absolutely different class.
"The gulf between us and Squires Gate on the night was vast. The scoreline makes it look like it was a tight game but, in truth, we could have had five or six."
And Peters believes Bacup are close to achieving the form which led them to the Second Division championship last season.
"They just couldn't live with us. They used all of our substitutes but they just ran out of ideas," he said.
"My lads responded well to some fierce criticism and we're getting back to how we played when we won the league, dictating the pace.
"Even when we lost possession we were hungry, chasing and closing people down.
"And our direct play was excellent. We carved them open like a knife through butter."
Peters added that, providing his players had come through Wednesday's game unscathed, he would be unlikely to make any changes to formation, selection, or even style of play.
"Wednesday's win has set us up nicely for tomorrow," he said.
"It will be a difficult game against Bamber Bridge but we'll be going for it, like we always do.
"We're not the type of team to defend and hope for a draw to get a replay at our place.
"I feel if my lads perform to their full capabilities there might be a shock on the cards, you never know."
