DAVID LUCAS goes between the sticks for Preston North End tomorrow when the Lilywhites travel to Bradford City.
Thanks to the behaviour of referee Alan Kaye, regular first-choice stopper Jonathan Gould is out with a one match ban following the farce at West Brom on Bank Holiday Monday.
And, to rub salt into the wound, Kaye has now criticised Gould for the way he responded to his ridiculous red card, and as a result, the former Scotland international faces a fresh disciplinary hearing before the FA.
But the suspension does mean David Lucas, Preston born-and-bred, will get the chance to prove himself in goal for what is Preston's first game in September.
As for the rest of a the squad, just George Koumantarakis - yet to figure since signing in the summer - Tyrone Mears and Claude Davis have been ruled out.
Davis is expected to be out for up to a month after doing himself damage to his knee during Preston's first win of the season, at home to Stoke a fortnight ago.
Mears has a hamstring injury, and Brown particularly feels for his young former Man City player because he spent the summer training with a rugby league side and managed to record 11.2 seconds in a 100-metre sprint.
Preston grabbed a point in the same fixture last year.
