A SINGLE mother twice the drink drive limit hit a wall as she drove home from the Colne Blues Festival.
Burnley Magistrates heard that jobless Kerry Ann Hargreaves, 22, who had no licence, pressed the accelerator too hard, the car shot forward and clipped a roundabout.
She was so upset over what had happened, she took an drug overdose and was taken to hospital.
Hargreaves, of Whitegate Close, Padiham, admitted driving with excess alcohol, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using an uninsured vehicle and having no test certificate, on August 25.
She was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £100.
The court was told the defendant gave a breath reading of 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Dermot Woodhead, defending, said Hargreaves had taken the substantial overdose on her release from custody as she had been so distressed.
The car owner had driven the vehicle back from the festival but in Burnley suggested Hargreaves drive the rest of the way, to Padiham.
Hargreaves had no knowledge of the car and was at a complete loss to know why she allowed herself to be persuaded to get into the driver's seat.
Mr Woodhead said the defendant put her foot on the accelerator harder than she should have done and ended up hitting a wall.
She only went 30 to 40 metres.
