THE rural economy will be the subject of a special conference attended by delegates from across the UK in a Ribble Valley village later this month.
Lancashire County Council, which has been awarded Beacon status for supporting the rural economy, is hosting the conference at Chipping Memorial Hall, on September 23.
Council officers will outline some of the projects that have helped boost rural communities in Lancashire and there will be question and answer sessions.
Representatives of councils across the UK and the Government's Improvement and Development Agency are expected to attend. County Coun Brian Johnson, cabinet member for urban and rural regeneration, said: "Lancashire County Council is making a big difference to the lives of people in rural areas and this open day is a chance for us to see how far we have come, as well as share ideas on the future."
