MP Janet Anderson will join more than 200 protesters tomorrow campaigning against plans to build an activity centre on moorland in Darwen.

Councillors and residents will gather at 2pm for a walk from the top of Cranberry Lane across the moor.

The protest has already gone to the council after a petition was signed by more than 100 people.

Horse riding and pony trekking would feature at the centre, as well angling ponds, 80 car park spaces and an off-road motorcycle track.

Campaigner Peter Hodgson said: "The application to build this centre is motivated by money. We will hear the noise over a 28-mile radius if motorbikes are used there.

"Because we are in the sticks nobody seems to care. The 1925 Property Act states that no work can be carried out without permission but it is down to the Secretary of State.

"Now it appears that the only people with power to act are the local council."
