A WOMAN who was seriously injured by a car outside her home still faces a long recovery in hospital, her husband revealed today.
Elaine Haworth, 35, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with a broken pelvis and head injuries after the incident in Priory Grange, Darwen, on August 15.
Soon after the incident her husband Danny described her injuries as horrendous and said the family had been dealt a devastating blow.
Today he said his wife's condition was improving but that she was no nearer to coming home.
He said: "We don't know when she will be able to come home.
"It will be a long time yet but they cannot really tell us because they don't know themselves.
"She is slowly but surely improving and we are all looking forward to having her home." The couple have three children, one aged five and twins aged three.
While Elaine has been in hospital Danny has been supported by their friends and extended family for whose help he says he is very grateful.
Residents of the Priory Grange estate have vowed to get a petition together to combat speeding in the cul-de-sac.
Richard Lee Bradley, 18, of Whitby Drive, Blackburn has been charged with using a car to wound Mrs Haworth causing her grievous bodily harm.
He is also charged with driving while disqualified, with excess alcohol, without insurance and without a licence.
