A MAN who offended while subject to a deferred sentence has been jailed for two months at Burnley Crown Court.
The court had been told how Stephen Ashworth, 20, who had admitted criminal damage, had been promised by a judge "nothing nasty," would happen to him if he kept his nose clean.
Sentence had been deferred for five months but in the meantime, the defendant had been sent to custody for three months after being convicted of driving with excess alcohol.
Ashworth, of Corporation Street, Bacup, must serve the new term consecutive to the first.
The court was told last August the criminal damage victim had been in bed in the early hours but woke to the sound of breaking glass.
He saw two men who he knew, was asked if he "liked flames" and feared his home would be torched.
When the defendant was interviewed, he denied he had been to the house that night.
David Temkin, defending, said Ashworth had had his first taste of custody and it had had a salutary effect on him.
