PREPARATIONS are well under way for this year's big bonfire, organised by the Rotaract and Rotary clubs of Blackburn with Darwen.
There will be a massive fireworks display at the extravaganza at Witton Park, on Saturday November 1.
Following on from last year's successful donation of £5,000 to the Magic Eye Appeal, this year's money will go to East Lancashire Hospice towards its £400,000 running costs and other local charities.
Stuart Andrew, from the Hospice, commented: "An extra £100,000 needs to be raised this year to cover costs. It's a great relief to be chosen as major charity for the Witton park bonfire.
"The money raised will go a long way to carry on this vital care to patients."
As well as the fireworks and bonfire, there will be a funfair and food stalls and Blackburn Rotaract Club is looking for sponsors to help cover the costs of the event.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Adele Birtwistle on 01254 246939.
