NEW gates have been put up in Nelson to make alleyways safer for residents.
The Pendle Community Safety Partnership is responsible for the alley gates scheme, which has seen gates going up all over the borough.
Pendle councillors Judith Robinson and George Adam have welcomed new gates put up in Bentley Street, Nelson.
Coun Robinson, chairman of the Nelson area committee of Pendle Community Safety Partnership, said: "It took just a couple of months from making the application for the gates in Bentley Street to them going up. Coun Adam and I are very pleased that the initiative is proving to be successful."
