THE devastated mother of Carry-Ann Brown says the family has still not seen her daughter's body almost a month after her death.

The teenager died on August 19, following a car crash, after she was driven from her foster home in the Whitebirk area of Blackburn.

Her father Sean Brown has since been charged with the attempted murder and rape of his daughter.

Today Tracy Brown, 34, said the family was devastated because they wanted to lay their daughter to rest.

She said: "I cannot even see her because they won't release the body to me. I wanted my daughter home but she is still in Carlisle.

"And there is no indication of when they will release her but I want to pay my last respects to her."

Tracy, of Huntington Drive, Darwen, said she has also demanded answers from Social Services.

She said: "I am waiting to see Stephen Sloss, director of Social Services for Blackburn with Darwen Council.

"I have been reading the Lancashire Evening Telegraph every night and the things that have happened have upset me.

"My daughter was with a foster family and should have been protected.

"I want to know what happened to my daughter."

Carry-Ann, 14, was fatally injured in a car crash on the southbound carriageway of the M6 on August 14.

She was kept on a life support machine for five days before a decision was made between the hospital and family solicitor to turn it off.

After the accident, Mr Sloss said: "Social Services and hospital staff have been supporting the family. We are also assisting the police with their continuing inquiries.

"In circumstances such as these it is proper that a full investigation takes place, under the leadership of the Area Child Protection Committee.

"This will seek to determine how the agencies have planned and worked together for this child."
