DARWEN moved to second in NWCL Division Two with a 4-1 victory over bogey side Daisy Hill.
Manager Steve Wilkes has never won at New Sirs, so he was particularly pleased to come away from Westhoughton with all three points.
After forcing a host of corners Darwen broke the deadlock on 20 minutes through an Andy Walsh header.
A Daisy Hill defender then sliced the ball into his own net after good work from Dennis Hill and Andy Bright.
Scott Derbyshire hit the post after the break, Mark Westhead and Daniel Stubbersfield both missed one-on-ones and Hill failed to convert from three yards.
Stubbersfield managed to bag his first ever Darwen goal after sweeping home a Westhead cross before Daisy Hill pulled one back after Walsh lost his man in the penalty area.
Darwen had the final say however as Craig Shaw found the net from his second attempt.
DARWEN travel to take on Great Harwood Town tonight in a NWCL Second Division clash, kick-off 7.45pm.
