FORMER Bury Woman of the Year Lily Reid is the new president of care group Crossroads.
She takes up the job after retiring from the board of trustees of which she had been a member since Crossroads was established in 1992.
The new president was installed at the care group's annual meeting at Bury Town Hall. Guests were the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillor Wilf Davison and Mrs Maureen Davison.
During the meeting, ten staff members were presented with NVQs level two care certificates by Mrs Anne Downey, training and care support officer. Other awards recognising management and accountancy qualifications were also handed over. One of the recipients was Mrs Downey herself who was presented with her internal verifier award by Crossroads' manager Mrs Joanne Brockway.
Five guest speakers addressed the well-attended meeting.
Crossroads, based in Hornby Street, Bury, offers respite services through community-based attendants to relieve the stress suffered by carers looking after people with physical, mental and other handicaps within the family home.
