RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans, has congratulated the people of Sweden on their victory in rejecting the Euro by such a decisive margin.

The Shadow Secretary for Wales, said: "This is a warning to other Eurocrats that they have left the people behind whilst making their pipe dreams for a United States of Europe.

"This is what Eurocrats want but is not what the people want.

"Blair should now wake up and smell the coffee. Let's have a referendum on the Euro in Britain now and lets have a vote on the constitution for Europe. It is about time that Blair started to listen to the people of Britain. Anything less would be a betrayal of the trust that was given to him in 2001."
