A CHINESE fund-raising event will be held in Blackburn tomorrow to boost a group of ladies taking part in the Women's Great Walk of China.

The event is the third in a series being hosted by Blackburn woman Tracy Reed, 33, who will join an 18-strong team of trekkers raising money for Breakthrough, the breast cancer charity.

Two of the walkers, organisers Karen Churches and Marie Hanley, are hoping to complete the full length of the Great Wall of China.

Tracy, from Feniscowles, will be part of one of 22 groups of women doing a six-day walk, each covering one section of the distance.

She said: "I'm nervously excited about doing the walk. It could be up to 30kms a day which is quite a lot, but hopefully we will raise a lot of money for a very good cause."

A fund-raising Chinese banquet will be held at Mr Fu's Cantonese Restaurant in Preston New Road at 7.30pm tomorrow with a raffle and celebrity auction at 7.30pm tomorrow.
