BLACKBURN Rovers' two Academy sides enjoyed mixed fortunes from their latest round of matches at the weekend.
Ian Miller's Under 17s roared to an impressive 3-0 home victory over Derby County at Brockhall.
But Rob Kelly's Under-19s couldn't make it a double-winning weekend as they crashed 2-1 at Sunderland.
The under-17s made a sluggish start to their encounter with County but began to find their range in the lead up to half-time, forcing the visiting keeper into a number of key saves.
Then shortly after the interval they finally found a way through when William Johnson opened the scoring after good work from Joe Garner.
Sergio Peter netted Rovers' second soon after with a strike that cannoned in off the post, before it was left to Garner to complete the scoring with a well-taken third.
Ian Miller said: "We scrapped our way through the first-half - which you have to do at times - but after the break we passed the ball very well and fully deserved the victory."
Meanwhile, the Under-19s found themselves on the wrong end of some dubious penalty decisions in their game in the North East.
Rovers appeared to be in command until the linesman awarded the Wearsiders a spot-kick on 35 minutes which they converted.
Things then went from bad to worse for the visitors as the referee pointed to the spot again and Sunderland found themselves two goals to the good.
Rovers replied with a dubious penalty of their own from Ian Black.
