PEOPLE in Burnley are missing out on thousands of pounds of Government grants.
Up to £2,500 per household is available to help keep homes warmer and more energy efficient. An estimated 18,863 homes in Burnley were thought to be eligible for cash under the Government's Warm Front grant scheme -- but to date only 3,286 have claimed.
Applicants must own their own homes or live in private rented accommodation and be on certain benefits.
Those who qualify include families with children under 16 or pregnant women who receive income-related benefits, those on disability benefits and people aged 60 or over who receive benefits.
A special free information line has been set up to help people make an application, which will be open weekdays from 8am until 6pm. The number to call is 0800 316 6015.
