AN ex-convict who got behind the wheel after taking heroin and ecstasy was spotted swerving on the motorway.
Burnley magistrates heard that injection moulder Dominic Bennett, 25, who had just been released from jail, was seen by police on the M65 at Colne, in the early hours.
Bennett was stopped and the officer believed he was under the influence of drink or drugs.
The defendant was arrested, taken to the police station and seen by the police surgoen.
The doctor took a specimen of blood which was sent off for forensic analysis. The sample was found to contain heroin and ecstasy.
Bennett, of Limbrick, Blackburn, admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs and not having insurance. It was the second time he had committed the offence. He was fined a total of £575, banned for three years and told to pay £60 costs.
Bridgette Hibbert, defending, said in the past Bennett had suffered from a drug addiction which had caused him problems.
