WITH the ongoing debate about the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and the use of speed cameras, one normally-vocal group is strangely silent -- our elected representatives.
After all, wasn't it the current government that passed the legislation that meant county councils could keep speeding fines for themselves? But no word from East Lancashire MPs Gordon Prentice, Peter Pike or Jack Straw.
And what about the ruling party on Lancashire County Council -- will they proudly declare their achievement in their next election manifesto?
And finally, a word for the Chief Constable: why doesn't he have a chat with his colleague from Greater Manchester who is withdrawing mobile speed patrols on the basis that they are alienating the general public?
