YOUNG people got on their bikes for a fun crime prevention event in Brierfield yesterday.
The event, at Brierfield Youth Centre, in Colne Road, was organised by Police Community Support Officer Des Wrest and beat officer PC Andy Prescott.
Youngsters, aged seven to 18, were treated to a stunt display and received advice on safe cycling and crime prevention from police officers and council staff.
PCSO Wrest said: "All of the kids had a great time and we hope the event helped to break down barriers between us and them.
"There was road safety advice on offer and we marked people's bikes with ultra-violet pens.
"This event was aimed at putting something positive into the area and helping to change young people's attitudes towards the police.
"We hope to be able to organise similar events in the future."
