A CAR mechanic who was caught almost twice the drink drive limit has been banned for three years.
Terry Wynne, 21, had a previous conviction for excess alcohol and was given the mandatory ban by Burnley agistrates.
Wynne, of Stanley Street, Colne, admitted driving with excess alcohol, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using an uninsured vehicle.
He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £65 costs.
The court was told police arrested the defendant on suspicion of drink driving after he was stopped in Colne.
He was taken to the police station, where the lower of two breath tests showed 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath -- the legal limit being 35.
Graeme Tindall, defending, said Wynne, who had arranged to buy the car from a friend, was moving it from one house to another.
He had been drinking in the afternoon and when it got to about 8pm, he felt fine to drive.
