MORE answers are needed to questions being asked about the A5225 proposals for a road running from Atherton to the M6 at Orrell.
On Saturday Wigan Borough Action Group led a public demonstration through the streets of Wigan to raise concerns over the road proposals.
Group vice-chairman Mark Harper, of Leigh, said: "It is being marketed as 'The Gateway to Wigan', that it shall alleviate traffic from the A577 & A571 and also encourage businesses to the borough. We believe this proposal is ill-conceived, but do not want people to accept our opinion as gospel, we want you to go away and ask questions.
"As this road would be privately funded in part shall parts of it, or all of it be a toll road?
"We have asked many questions of Wigan MBC and received very few answers. You may feel this because it is very early in the planning process, Wigan MBC would agree, but then why propose to apply for planning permission before the end of 2003?
"Why is it they have already started building a development and road to link with the A5225?"
WBAG promises to ask questions on behalf of anyone, for or against the A5225, call 01942 735225.
