VISITORS from America took the top two prizes in Clitheroe Golf Club's annual invitation fourball on Sunday.
In perfect conditions, John Paganelli from Oakhill, Rochester New York, partnered home player Dennis Greenup to snatch first prize on the cards from Clitheroe's Tony McGibbon and Mike Gobbi from Stonyhurst Park.
The best gross prize went to David Wilson and his partner from Port Jefferson, Long Island, Jeff Trimboli.
The 12 American golfers, staying at the Marriott, Manchester, are enjoying a short tour of the north of England as guests of club captain Paul Marlow and Bob Aitken.
They were delighted to pair up with Clitheroe members and after a round of golf enjoyed the clubhouse hospitality.
An invitation to a return match in New York was gratefully accepted by the Clitheroe members.
David Hillary and his guest Ian Johnson from Accrington took third nett prize with 42 points, one ahead of Paul Hamer and M Atkinson (Silsden) with the Wetton brothers John and David one shot behind.
