A TAXI firm employee took a cab without the consent of his bosses and then forced a police car off the road.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Naveed Ali was disqualified at the time of the offence and tried to avoid prosecution by giving false details.

Ali 24, of St James Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to taking without consent, driving while disqualified and without insurance and obstructing a police officer. He was jailed for four months. The court heard that officers driving down Montague Street were forced off the road as Ali drove towards the traffic lights, overtaking a queue of traffic.
